Just a reminder to all of you about the swap on Sun. Please come down and help sort donations for an hour if you can, or at least come by and check out the event. Depending on how the day goes (and how tired we all are) we may hang out afterwards but I think most likely we will wrap up right around 4pm. This event will be held at the West Street Market. If you haven't been down there since they've done the renovations then you really need to check it out, it is a really cool space and there will be live music there this Sun as well so I think this event is one not to miss. Hope to see you all there, feel free to give me a call or email me with any questions or if you need directions, Delia 240-8484

Hey Sonya, you can check out our facebook group or message me your email address and I can add you to our mailing list if you like.
We had elections last week and all nine positions have been filled! We still have space on all of our four committees, the most active of which are the EnAct Student Farm Committee which is about to have it's first meeting to get things rolling for the upcoming growing season and the Green Cafe on UNR Campus Committee who have regular meetings which are announced through the EnAct mailing list. We will be having our first monthly social at the West Street Market on Sunday March 31st in the evening after the clothing swap we are hosting there that afternoon. We are planning a great UNR Earth day event 4/20-4/21 which will include a showing of Soylent Green, a recycled art exhibtion, sustainability workshops, an environmental communtiy mixer, a second clothing swap and a Trashion Show. Currently we are looking for help with lots of things related to the trashion show as I listed below as well as help writing the script for the show and setting up art and sets before the show. You can email me at unrenvironmentalactionteam@gmail.com if you are interested in getting involved. ~Delia

Hello everyone, I am writing today to ask for your help with a few things, some large, some small.

Let's start with the small stuff. I need sixpack rings for the trashion show, the plastic rings which six-packs of soda and other drinks come in. If you ever come across these please save them for me, I will need a couple hundred all together so every two or three will really help me. When you have some collected you can contact me and I will arrange to pick them up from you at your convenience.

Next, there are some jobs which need to be done before the show in April. We have four classes of 2-6 yr olds on and near campus who are making trashion outfits for themselves to model in the show. Some of them are making superhero outfits or other kinds of cosutmes already, but they need some help. I am looking to have 1-2 people who can visit each classroom (I think an hour or two per week but we can work that out with the teachers) and assist them with their trashion-outfit making, one person is already on board witht his project but I need to find seven more people who love the environment, and children! It doesn't matter if you don't know anything about trashion, I will brief you on it and it is really easy. Let me know asap if this is something you are interested in, we need to get these classrooms going.

Lastly (for now), we have 5 and may have up to 7 celebrity models for the show, each of these need to have a killer outfit, so if you are a designer and you want to let your talent shine then this is a great opportunity, all of these people are on the radio or news so whatever they wear will get a lot of publicity. I need 5-6 designers to get started on outfits for these celebrities now. If you want soem help getting started I have been collecting ideas and some materials so I can get you going or I encourage you to come up with your own styles. This job requires meeting with your model soon and then working on th eoutfit for a few weeks til it is almost done and then meeting with them again for final fittings as needed. This would be a great project to work on over spring break, take a break from academics and be creative. Remember, whatever your cause is, we will happily write it into the script for the show to publicize your efforts, events etc so this is a great way to get some attention for whatever you believe in.

I hate that I have class at one on Fridays. :(
Delia Martinez Comment by Delia Martinez on February 16, 2009 at 1:29pm
We will be meeting the next two Fridays (2/20 & 2/27) in the Rotunda at 1pm, if anyone can't make that time please post other time that would work better for you, we will be spreading out the meetings so that committees are meeting at different times during the week.
On the 27th we will be holding elections, in order to vote in elections or run for officer you must have attended at least one meeting this semester, we can set up private meetings for anyone who can't make 1pm Fri.
I will post a full descriptions of these positions in the next few days. Actively participating in our club helps steer our community towards sustainability, the more of us there are, the more of a difference we can make. Hope to see you all Friday ~Delia
