Hello All!

I am in charge of overseeing our campus garden over the summer, and I would like to let you all know where we are in this process. We are in the middle of writing up a proposal to Kevin Piper so that we may use some of the land off of Valley Road. We are hoping for 1/2 acre, part of which will be used for growing crops, and part of which will be put under a green manure. We are also submitting a proposal to UNAE so that we may have a working budget for the garden. What I need from all of you is your summer schedules, if you are interested in gardening. I am going to assign a few people each week to be in charge of caring for the garden. This will involve pest control, watering, weeding, etc. If you are committed to working in the garden and are in Reno over the summer, please let me know when you are available to work. Please let me know at least few weeks that would be good for you to work. Understand that you will not be the only one working in the garden for that week, you will have help. Also, if you tell me that you are available all summer, I won't schedule you for every week. I would love this information as soon as you all can get it to me. I will then form a schedule and post it online for you all to see. From there you can trade amongst yourselves if you need to be assigned a different week. As soon as the land is available we need as many hands as we can get to help set up the garden. After the garden is set up we will try to stick to the schedule. Also, I want all of you to know that it isn't too late to be a part of this. If you haven't been able to come to meetings, you can help! Or if you know people that are interested they can help too.
